SAN DIEGO, CA — We've rounded up the stories you may have missed over the weekend to prepare you for the week ahead.

But before we jump into Southern California's top stories, residents should expect a chance of showers later this week, according to the National Weather Service.

"High pressure to the southeast will bring gradually warmer days into Wednesday. The marine layer will decrease in depth with night and morning low clouds not spreading as far into the valleys by Wednesday," NWS San Diego forecasters wrote Monday. "For late Thursday into Saturday, moisture from the remnants of Hurricane Priscilla is expected to spread into the southwestern California with chances for showers peaking on Friday."

In other news, former USC and NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez was charged in connection with an altercation and stabbing; a man died in the parking lot of the Magic Mountain theme park; a driver crashed into the steps of Los Angeles City Hall and barricaded himself inside the car; detectives raided a shuttered pet cremation business; and a nine-plus hour fire at a Chevron refinery left motorists anticipating higher prices with the facility closed for cleanup and repairs;
