FBI Offers Reward For Convictions In Fatal Imperial County Shooting

SAN DIEGO, CA —The FBI San Diego Field Office sought the public's help Thursday in finding the suspect or suspects involved in the fatal shooting of a 21-year-old man earlier this year in Imperial County.

David Mora-Barraza was shot in the chest shortly before 2:20 a.m. March 2 near East K and South 17th streets in Brawley, according to the FBI. He was taken to Pioneers Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

"This senseless act of violence has deeply affected our community," Brawley Police Department Chief Jimmy Duran said. "We are committed to working closely with the FBI and our law enforcement partners to pursue justice for David Mora Barraza and his loved ones. We urge anyone with information to come forward — no detail is too small."

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for the arrests and convictions of the suspect or suspects.

"Every victim of violent crime deserves justice. FBI San Diego is committed to keeping our communities safe and will work with our local partners at Brawley PD to help locate and hold these perpetrators accountable for their actions."

Authorities asked anyone with information to contact a local FBI field office, nearest United States embassy or submit a tip at tips.fbi.gov. Tips can be submitted anonymously.
