Firefighters Battle Blaze At Vacant Country Saloon

The fire was eventually fully contained.

SAN DIEGO, CA — A fire broke out Wednesday at the abandoned In Cahoots Dance Hall & Saloon in San Diego's Mission Valley area.

Battalion Chief Jeff Mitchell of the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department said the fire broke out at about 10 a.m. Wednesday in the long-vacant building located at 5373 Mission Center Road.

"The entire building, which is fully gated, was engulfed," Mitchell said. "We have crews there with about 30 personnel right now fighting the fire, which is still active. They're in the process of putting it out."

The fire was eventually fully contained.

"Nobody was inside the building and firefighters were squirting water on it from the outside," Mitchell said.

The former country dance hall, which has been vacant since 2018, also experienced another fire in late October.

Mitchell estimated that crews would be mopping up after the fire is completely extinguished for about three or four more hours.

The cause of the fire was not immediately available.
