Grease Fire Damages Kitchen In San Diego Apartment Building
First responders saw smoke coming from the first floor of one of the units.
SAN DIEGO, CA — A small grease fire damaged a kitchen in an apartment unit in San Diego Tuesday after a man fell asleep while he was cooking, authorities said.
The fire was reported around 5:20 a.m. Tuesday at 4580 Zion Ave. in the neighborhood of Allied Gardens, according to San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
First responders saw smoke coming from the first floor of one of the units. The fire was contained to the kitchen and snuffed out in under 40 minutes.

It was reported that the man had a minor burn on his hand, but refused medical care, officials said.
No other injuries or damage were immediately reported.
