Infant Found Dead Inside Portable Restroom In Mission Bay: Police

An employee who was conducting routine waste removal found the boy's body, according to the San Diego Police Department.

SAN DIEGIO, CA — A suspicious death investigation was underway Monday after an infant's body was found inside a portable restroom in Mission Bay, authorities said.

An employee who was conducting routine waste removal found the boy's body shortly before 1:30 p.m. in a restroom at Dana Landing/Sunset Point at 1600 West Mission Bay Drive, according to the San Diego Police Department.

First responders with the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department and San Diego Lifeguards also responded to the scene. The child was pronounced dead a short time later.

Homicide detectives were notified of the suspicious circumstances involving the death and immediately began an investigation.

The identity of the infant and the parents remain unknown.
