Inmate Identified In Santee In-Custody Death
Linda Bagby was found unresponsive in her cell, according to Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility officials.
SANTEE, CA — A 53-year-old inmate who died in custody at a detention facility in Santee was identified by authorities Thursday.
On June 13 at around 4:25 p.m., sheriff's deputies discovered Linda Bagby unresponsive in her cell while serving dinner, according to Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility officials.
The facility's medical staff began CPR before Santee Fire Department paramedics arrived and took over life-saving efforts, but the woman could not be revived, sheriff's officials said. She was pronounced dead about 10 minute later.

Bagby, an El Cajon resident, had been in custody since Jan. 3, and was facing multiple charges, including assault with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment and felony vandalism.
An investigation was underway, and the cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner's office.
