Kris Jenner's Sister, Karen Houghton​, Dies In San Diego County

SAN DIEGO, CA — Businesswoman Kris Jenner's younger sister, Karen Houghton, died this week in San Diego's North County, the reality television personality announced on social media.

"It is with the heaviest heart and deepest sadness that I share that my sister Karen passed away yesterday unexpectedly," Jenner wrote on Instagram. "My heart aches for my mom MJ and my niece Natalie, and I pray that God guides us all through this difficult time."

Deputies responded to a medical aid call around 1:30 p.m. Monday and found firefighters already providing lifesaving measures for Houghton, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department told TMZ. The attempts to revive Houghton were unsuccessful.

The 65-year-old died in San Marcos. Her cause of death was unclear, TMZ reported, but she appeared to have died of natural causes.

"Karen was beautiful inside and out," Jenner wrote. "She was the sweetest, kindest, the most sensitive and vulnerable and so so funny. She always felt grateful and thankful for her life and treasured her family and friends and especially her beautiful daughter.

"She holds such a huge part of my heart and I cherish every single memory we have together," she added. "Karen's passing is a reminder that life is so short and precious and tomorrow is never promised. We must tell those we cherish how much we love them. I love you my beautiful sister."

Houghton was Jenner's only sister. They both grew up in San Diego.
