SAN MARCOS, CA — At least one person was killed Saturday when a vehicle crashed and overturned in San Marcos.

The crash was reported to the California Highway Patrol at 2:03 a.m. and was on the westbound Ronald Packard (78) Freeway at Rancho Santa Fe Road.

The driver of the vehicle was reportedly awake when freed and taken by ambulance to a hospital and San Marcos Fire Department firefighters worked to free the passenger, the CHP said.

All lanes of traffic were opened at 6:02 a.m.
