Man, Woman Suspected Of Fatal Hit-And-Run In Clairemont Mesa East Surrender

SAN DIEGO, CA — A man and a woman suspected of an early morning hit-and-run collision that killed a 36-year-old man in Clairemont Mesa East turned themselves in to police Wednesday.

The collisions occurred in the 6900 block of Balboa Avenue, near Hathaway Street, on March 29 at around 1:20 a.m., as the man was traveling westbound on an electric bicycle, according to the San Diego Police Department.

The bicyclist attempted to merge left from the bike lane to the left turn lane moments before getting struck by two vehicles whose drivers fled without rendering aid.

The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment, where he later died as a result of his injuries.

The suspect identified in the initial hit-and-run collision was 27-year-old Kamille Agustin, who was driving a white 2021 Dodge Charger, police said.

Detectives identified the second suspect as 23-year-old Anthony Phan, who was driving a gray Mercedes E53 executive car. Both suspects, residents of San Diego, turned themselves in to Traffic Investigations Unit detectives at the San Diego Police Department Traffic Division on Wednesday and were booked on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.
