Patrols, Power Restoration Underway For Residents Impacted By Shutoffs

About 300 SDG&E field employees are patrolling and inspecting power lines to restore power for roughly 46,500 customers.

SAN DIEGO, CA — San Diego Gas and Electric was working to restore power Wednesday to tens of thousands of customers affected by public safety power shutoffs amid strong Santa Ana winds.

About 300 SDG&E field employees were patrolling and inspecting power lines to restore power for roughly 46,500 customers who remained without power Wednesday morning.

SDG&E announced Saturday that nearly 117,500 customers could have their power turned off this week to reduce wildfire risk due to critical fire weather conditions. A red flag warning expired at 4 a.m. Wednesday for the county's inland valleys and mountains.

Crews must first patrol and inspect lines before restoring power after public safety power shutoffs, according to SDG&E. Any repairs must be made before power can be restored safely.

"SDG&E crews are working as quickly as safety allows," the utility company said in a news release. "As SDG&E works to restore power, customers may see power restored in some areas while their location remains without power. This occurs because different parts of a neighborhood may be on different circuits, and not all circuits are restored at the same time."
