Pedestrian Killed In Ocean Beach Hit-Run

SAN DIEGO, CA — A car apparently involved in a pre-dawn race in Ocean Beach Thursday ran down a pedestrian, after which the speeding motorists drove off, leaving the 20-year-old victim behind to die in the roadway.
The southbound black BMW sedan struck the man at high speed shortly before 5 a.m. as he was running across the street in the 4500 block of Nimitz Boulevard against a red light, according to the San Diego Police Department.

At the time of the deadly impact, according to witnesses, the driver of the BMW appeared to be racing motorists in a Dodge Charger and a Ford Mustang, OnSceneTV reported.
Later in the morning, Navy police found the damaged 2018 BMW, California license No. 9HEC867, abandoned on Canon Street, about a mile south of the site of the deadly hit-and-run, according to police. The vehicle had a large dent on its hood and grille, and its windshield was shattered.
