Power Shutoffs Close Some San Diego Area Schools
The closures come after critical fire weather conditions prompted power shutoffs in an effort to mitigate fire risk.
SAN DIEGO, CA — Some San Diego area schools were closed again Wednesday due to public safety power shutoffs, the San Diego County Office of Education announced.
The closures come after critical fire weather conditions prompted power shutoffs in an effort to mitigate fire risk in a number of communities in the county's inland valleys and mountains. As of early Wednesday morning, 46,538 customers remained without power, according to SDG&E.
"The safety of students and school staff is of the utmost importance to San Diego County school districts," the County Office of Education said in a statement.
