Here are four of the top stories in San Diego today:
- After 55 years in business, a beloved daycare and child care center in Point Loma closed its doors. Parents were notified of the closure of the Honey Bear preschool one week in advance. The closure created a difficult situation for parents, who now needed to find alternate facilities for their kids. It was also difficult for the teachers who had worked with the children since the beginning of the season and who were now unemployed. (ABC 10 News San Diego KGTV)
- They are less expensive to build, but they look like most other modern homes. The difference is that homes preassembled at the factory are brought to the site to be joined to other sections and placed on a permanent foundation. Unlike prefabricated homes of years ago, the quality of these homes is excellent. The prefab sections can also be added to apartments, creating different, modular levels. The lower product cost and the time saved in assembly keep the cost down. This should also translate into lower costs for San Diegans, say modular developers. (KPBS)
- Looking for a new job? Local employers are hiring. Whether full-time or part-time, plenty of jobs are out there for the right person. Patch and Zip Recruiter joined together to bring those jobs to you. Whether you're a senior life science specialist, a customer services representative, a field sales rep, a truck driver, an account executive, a store manager, an ob/gyn generalist, or are just getting started, take a look! - Have you purchased your live Christmas tree yet? If you have, you know that trees are pricey this year. If you haven’t, get ready for a shock. Christmas tree prices are up 5 to 15 percent. Freight costs as well as growers’ costs are up this year. However, at the Family Christmas Tree Farm in El Cajon, trees are selling at the same price as last year, because this farm grows trees that are drought-tolerant, saving the grower money and saving you money, too. The farm grows both Aleppo pines and Arizona cypress. (NBC San Diego)
