San Diego Is The Best Place To Go For Thanksgiving: Report

SAN DIEGO, CA — America's Finest City is the best place to go for Thanksgiving, according to a new study.

San Diego topped WalletHub's list of the Best Places to Go for Thanksgiving in 2024.

To help Americans find the best places to gobble up Thanksgiving festivities at a reasonable price, analysts at the personal finance website compared the 100 largest U.S. cities across five key categories: Thanksgiving celebrations and traditions, affordability, safety and accessibility, giving thanks, and Thanksgiving weather forecast. The data set ranged from the cost of Thanksgiving dinner and the share of delayed flights to forecasted precipitation and volunteer opportunities per capita.

San Diego scored well for the city's high number of highly-rated restaurants, abundance of pumpkin patches and holiday decoration shops, number of charities per capita, and wonderful weather.

"The best cities for celebrating Thanksgiving all have an abundance of high-quality restaurants and places to buy festive decorations, and their residents get very excited for the holiday based on their Google search history," WalletHub analyst Chip Lupo said in a statement. "Other features make individual cities stand out; for example, San Diego has great weather, Atlanta has a fantastic track record for on-time flights and San Francisco has surprisingly affordable accommodations."

While one California city topped the list, another landed at the bottom of the rankings. Stockton ranked No. 100.
