San Diego Coffee Shop Opens First-Ever Drive-Thru Location

SAN DIEGO, CA — A popular coffee shop has opened its fifth location and first-ever drive-thru in San Diego.

Spill the Beans opened its doors last week at the corner of Newport Avenue and Sunset Cliffs Boulevard in Ocean Beach. The 900-square-foot space features a walk-up window with outdoor seating, as well as drive-thru service.

"Ocean Beach offers an authentic glimpse into the heart of one of San Diego's most iconic beach communities," Dave Jones, co-owner of Spill the Beans, told Patch. "It's home to local operators, beloved bars, and a vibrant food scene that stretches up and down the street.

"Success in OB comes from more than just opening your doors — it means becoming part of the fabric of the neighborhood and contributing real value to the community," he added. "As locals ourselves, we're proud and excited to be a part of Ocean Beach and to serve the people who make this place so special."

Spill the Beans serves coffee and bagels.

The menu features a variety of beverages, including cold brew, specialty coffee drinks, teas, juices, and fan favorites like matcha and chaga.

The chain's signature bagels were crafted by Chef Karina Orozco ahead of the company's original opening in 2017 in the Gaslamp and have remained a fan favorite. The bagels are made with five simple ingredients and boiled in agave syrup, and are available in creative flavors such as sun-dried tomato and cheese, and bacon and white cheddar.

The company offers artisan-compounded butters and handmade cream cheeses, as well as bagel sandwiches, chia berry bowls, avocado toast and lunch options.

The local coffee shop chain has four other locations in San Diego's Gaslamp, Mission Valley, Pacific Beach and Seaport Village neighborhoods.

Spill the Beans' Ocean Beach location is at 805 Newport Avenue. The walk-up window is located along Sunset Cliffs Boulevard.

The location will be open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. through June 30, and from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. beginning July 1.
