San Diego Man Arrested After Bank Robbery In The Bay Area: Police

A bank robber passed a note to the teller, demanding money, police said.

REDWOOD CITY, CA — A bank in Redwood City was robbed Tuesday after a San Diego man slipped a note to the teller that demanded they hand over cash, police said.

Arthur Burton Gillespie, 66, was arrested for robbery Tuesday, police said.

Gillespie entered the Chase Bank located at 2300 Broadway in Redwood City and passed the note to the teller and bank employees triggered the silent alarm, which resulted in a heavy law enforcement presence, police said.

After he committed the robbery, officers said Gillespie took a seat in the lounge area of the bank.

The bank was then evacuated and police said Gillespie voluntarily left the bank, where he was arrested without incident.

He was booked into the San Mateo County Correctional Facility, police said.
