San Diego Man Fatally Mauled By His Own Dogs Identified
Pedro Ortega, 26, was taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla, where he was pronounced dead, officials said.
SAN DIEGO, CA — Authorities on Monday publicly identified a man who was fatally attacked by his three dogs last week at a park in San Diego.
Pedro Ortega, 26, and his son were walking their three dogs Friday at Mesa Viking Neighborhood Park in Mira Mesa when the dogs attacked him, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.
"For unknown reasons, the dogs began to attack the decedent," the Medical Examiner's Office said in a news release.

Ortega was taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla, where he was pronounced dead.
"Despite aggressive resuscitative efforts death was pronounced," the Medical Examiner's Officesaid.

A second person who suffered serious bite injuries while trying to help Ortega was taken to a hospital and was recovering, according to San Diego Humane Society.
All three dogs were euthanized with the consent of Ortega's family.
