San Diego Named Best CA City For Staycations: Report

SAN DIEGO, CA — Thinking about a staycation this summer? San Diegans don't have to go far for fun. San Diego was named among the best cities for staycations in the country, according to a study by WalletHub.

The personal finance website ranked the best and worst cities for staycations in the U.S. America's Finest City was the only city in California that cracked the top 10.

San Diego, which ranked 10th overall, claimed the title for the best staycation spot in California, according to WalletHub. San Francisco, the next California city on the list, ranked No. 22.

"San Diego's top spot among California cities for staycations reflects its rare ability to blend natural beauty with diverse, high-quality amenities," WalletHub analyst Chip Lupo told Patch.

"The city leads the nation in access to hiking trails, boat tours, bike rentals, spas, zoos and affordable 4.5-plus star restaurants, which makes it easy for residents to enjoy a vacation without ever leaving town. While costs for things like movie tickets and cleaning services are high, San Diego makes up for it with its exceptional mix of activities, from water sports to world-class dining, and its abundance of public beaches. It's a prime example of how a city can create everyday luxury at home."

Cincinnati, Ohio, ranked as the best city for staycations, followed by Orlando, Florida, and Las Vegas, Nevada. Yonkers, New York, ranked as the worst.

WalletHub compared 182 of the largest cities in America across 41 key metrics, ranging from parks and museums per capita to restaurant costs.
