San Diego Gintonería Makes Eater's 15 Best New Restaurants
A new destination restaurant in San Diego invites customers to "get weird in the whirlpool" with oysters, swordfish and beyond.
SAN DIEGO, CA — A newly opened restaurant and gintonería has been named to Eater's 2022 list of the best new restaurants in the nation.
In the report, Eater lauded 2022 as a year responsible for ushering in a new era of "normal," in which chefs and restaurateurs were able to widen their imaginative horizons.
Chelsea Coleman and Rae Gurne were able to do just that with their newest endeavor, Mabel's Gone Fishing. The eatery just opened its doors Sept. 27, but it has already become a trendy destination restaurant.

Nestled within North Park, the restaurant invites customers to "get weird in the whirlpool" by sipping gin tonics and gobbling oysters.
Eater says the eatery attracts "the trendy and beautiful from all corners of the city, converts locals into regulars, and impresses out-of-towners, too."

Coleman and Gurne built the story of their new restaurant off of the strange origins of a seafood loving pup, named after Coleman's own dog. Anyone trying to book a reservation or visit the website can read the full story of Mabel.
The menu is stacked with unique and quirky dishes like the clams and ham — a generous serving of steamers suspended in a pool of savory 'nduja broth with a healthy helping of grilled sourdough to soak up the goods.
There's also a swordfish schnitzel that is plenty mouth watering. And of course, you won't want to miss oyster hour daily from 4 to 5:30 p.m.
