Suspect In 2021 Mountain View Homicide Arrested
A 34-year-old man has been arrested in the 2021 shooting death of a 59-year-old man in San Diego's Mountain View neighborhood, police said.

SAN DIEGO, CA — A 34-year-old man has been arrested in the 2021 shooting death of a 59-year-old man in the Mountain View neighborhood, police said Tuesday.
Rashad Ware was located in the 300 block of 17th Street and arrested Saturday, according to Lt. Jud Campbell of the San Diego Police Department. He was booked Sunday into San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of first-degree murder. His arraignment is scheduled for Wednesday in Central Division Felony Court and he is not eligible for release, according to jail records.
On Oct. 19, 2021, police received a report of a shooting in the area of 37th Street and Ocean View Boulevard in the Mountain View neighborhood, Campbell said.

Arriving officers found a gunshot victim on the sidewalk in the 3600 block of Ocean View Boulevard, the lieutenant said. The man had at least one apparent gunshot wound to his upper body.
San Diego Fire-Rescue Department personnel arrived and took the man to a hospital, where he died.

The shooting victim was identified as Rahman Thomas. SDPD homicide detectives were called to the scene and have been investigating the crime since it occurred. Through the course of the investigation, they identified Ware as the suspect, Campbell said.
