SWAT Standoff Prompts Evacuation Of Elementary School In Ramona
Deputies from the San Diego County Sheriff's Office and officers from the Escondido Police Department were at the scene.
RAMONA, CA — A SWAT standoff prompted the evacuation of an elementary school Wednesday in Ramona.
A SWAT team was dispatched Wednesday afternoon to the 1500 block of Royal Vista Drive in Ramona, where a call for a welfare check led to a law enforcement standoff, according to the San Diego Sheriff's Office.
Deputies from the sheriff's office and officers from the Escondido Police Department were at the scene. The sheriff's Crisis Negotiation Team also responded.

Authorities urged the public to avoid the area.
Hanson Elementary School at 2520 Boundary Ave. was evacuated "out of an abundance of caution," according to the sheriff's office.

Students and staff were relocated to Ramona Community Montessori School at 1010 Ramona St. Sheriff's officials said students can be picked up at Ramona Community Montessori School.
No other information was immediately available.
