These San Diego Hotel Restaurants Among The Best In U.S.

Two of the best hotel restaurants in the country are located in the San Diego area, according to OpenTable.

SAN DIEGO, CA — San Diego has two of the best hotel restaurants in the country, according to the online reservation service OpenTable.

Addison by William Bradley, Southern California's first three-star Michelin restaurant, made the list. Located at Fairmont Grand Del Mar in San Diego, the restaurant has a 4.8-star rating in 1,874 reviews.

"Chef William Bradley offers his distinct culinary perspective through an experience that celebrates regional ingredients and influences," the listing on OpenTable reads. "With its picturesque views of the surrounding hillside, the dining room creates a transportive setting for Bradley's 10-course tasting menu. To further enhance the experience, Addison's 10,000 bottle wine program showcases small producers, rare Champagnes, and new discoveries from around the world."

The Pony Room at Rancho Valencia also made the list. Located in Rancho Santa Fe, the restaurant has a 4.8-star rating in 1,636 reviews.

"In addition to an extensive selection of all expressions of agave spirits, it is also home to one of Southern California's most impressive wine and hand-crafted, seasonally inspired signature cocktail lists," the listing on OpenTable reads. "The Pony Room serves exceptional, American inspired comfort classics with daily specials."

Open Table, in partnership with KAYAK, highlighted the top spots, compiled from diner reviews and demand metrics including diner ratings, percentage of bookings made in advance, and five-star reviews.

"Recently, hotel owners have seen the value in not only having restaurants as an amenity for their guests, but also in being a culinary destination for locals and even travelers staying elsewhere," Chef Stephanie Izard of the Cabra–Chicago, Boka Restaurant Group told OpenTable.

"Travelers have so many options of places to stay, culinary offerings are a big part of making that choice," she said.

OpenTable and KAYAK consumer research surveys show 73% of Americans would book the same hotel again because of the dining experience in its restaurant. Among other findings:

  • 58% of Americans feel that hotel restaurant offerings have gotten better over time due to the quality of food (60%), atmosphere (57%), and service (56%);
  • 47% of Americans have booked a trip to visit a specific restaurant.; and
  • 45% of Americans have found themselves posting more about their restaurant meals than the sights on their trip
