Trader Joe's To Open New Store In San Diego County

POWAY, CA — Trader Joe's is opening a new store in San Diego County.

Trader Joe's Poway will open its doors Wednesday. The store, which is just under 10,000 square feet, is located at the intersection of Midland and Poway roads in the Poway City Centre.

"We are excited to be opening more stores in San Diego County," store manager Frank Bennett told Patch. "We feel the community and location in Poway are a great fit. We have an awesome crew that is ready to serve and welcome our customers and we're grateful to be a part of the neighborhood."

The company announced it would hire more than 70 new employees from surrounding areas and transfer in 20 others from neighboring stores to run the Poway location. In addition, the Poway store will donate 100% of its products that aren't sold to nonprofit, community-based organizations through the grocery store chain's Neighborhood Shares Program.

In May, the chain announced plans to open 24 new stores across the country, including eight in Southern California and two in the San Diego area. Another store opened in August in Santee.

The company launched in 1967 in the Los Angeles area and has since expanded to more than 550 stores in 42 states and Washington, D.C.

The Poway location will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8:55 a.m. Friday Nov. 8.

The store will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily at 13644 Poway Road in Poway.
