SAN DIEGO, CA — We've rounded up the stories you may have missed over the weekend to prepare you for the week ahead.
But before we jump into Southern California's top stories, residents should expect humid conditions to continue before a cooling trend begins this week, according to the National Weather Service.
"Daily chances for showers and thunderstorms will continue through the middle of the week as the monsoon weather pattern continues across the mountains and deserts, although this will be winding down going into the later part of the week and into the weekend, with a lesser chance of afternoon thunderstorms," NWS San Diego forecasters wrote Monday.

"Inland valleys may see a storm or two this afternoon, otherwise all areas will remain humid through the early part of the week," forecasters continued. "A cooling trend will begin tomorrow and continue through Wednesday, then remain nearly steady through the weekend. A weak trough offshore will help to lower chances for monsoonal storm activity across the mountains and deserts by the middle of the week with less humid conditions."
In other news, a boy was fatally shot; four people were killed and two were injured in a crash; two women and a man were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide; a serial "butt sniffer" was arrested again; and a vehicle went 1,000 feet off a highway.
