Woman Struck By Dump Truck In San Diego
The 70-year-old woman suffered severe injuries when a dump truck struck her as she was walking across a Hillcrest roadway.
SAN DIEGO, CA — A 70-year-old woman suffered severe injuries Wednesday when a dump truck struck her as she was walking across a Hillcrest roadway against a red light, authorities said.
The 2019 Peterbilt construction vehicle hit the pedestrian at about 10:30 a.m. as its driver was making a turn from eastbound University Avenue onto southbound Vermont Street, according to the San Diego Police Department.
Paramedics took the woman to a hospital for treatment of serious but apparently non-life-threatening injuries, SDPD Officer David O'Brien said.

Police shut down the eastbound lanes of University Avenue between 10th Avenue and Vermont Street for several hours to allow investigators to document the scene of the accident.
