14 Injured When Cable Car Comes To Abrupt Stop In SF: Fire Officials
The incident happened sometime after 3 p.m. in the 1300 block of California Street in San Francisco, authorities said.
SAN FRANCISCO, CA — At least 14 people aboard a cable car were injured Monday afternoon when the vehicle came to an abrupt stop in San Francisco, fire officials said.
It's unclear how fast the cable car was going before coming to a stop. Fire officials say the 14 people suffered minor to moderate injuries.
The cable car was traveling through the 1300 block of California Street between Leavenworth and Hyde streets when it came to a stop, according to the San Francisco Fire Department.

An alert was sent out by authorities just before 3:30 p.m. It warned people to avoid the area and that drivers should expect traffic delays.
"We have many ambulances coming into the area to deal with the 14 patients that we are treating here," fire officials said in a statement on social media. "There will be an ongoing investigation."
