The East Bay city launched the Afghan Refugee Help Fund, and the community delivered. The fund has raised $442,000 from over 1,000 donors in 40 states as of Feb. 28, city officials said.

3 Orphaned Baby House Finches Rescued In Redwood City: Photos
Three orphaned baby House Finches were rescued by the Peninsula Humane Society in Redwood City this week. The baby birds’ parents had built a nest inside the helmet but didn’t return to the nest for several days. The birds were about three weeks old, the PHS said.
