‘Ain’t Too Proud’ Musical Brings Temptations’ Story To San Francisco

Tickets go on sale Friday for the Tony-winning production.

SAN FRANCISCO — The celebrated musical Ain’t Too Proud – The Life and Times of The Temptations is set to make its San Francisco debut for a limited engagement at the Golden Gate Theatre from February 25 to March 2, 2025, BroadwaySF announced Monday.

Tickets go on sale to the public at 10 a.m. Friday at broadwaysf.

Following the journey of The Temptations from the Detroit streets to Rock & Roll Hall of Fame icons, Ain’t Too Proud brings together their timeless hits, including “My Girl,” “Papa Was a Rolling Stone,” and “Just My Imagination,” set against the backdrop of the group’s triumphs and struggles in an era of intense civil unrest.

Written by Dominique Morisseau and featuring Tony-winning choreography by Sergio Trujillo, the show explores themes of brotherhood, loyalty, and the personal conflicts that challenged the legendary group.

Directed by Tony-winning Des McAnuff, Ain’t Too Proud has previously set box-office records across multiple cities and enjoyed a successful Broadway run. The production features a high-profile creative team with award-winning designers in scenic, costume, and lighting design.
