Apartment Fire Shuts Down Busy San Francisco Street

Drivers should avoid the area as firefighters respond to the blaze.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — A one-alarm building fire prompted the closure of Union Street between Larkin Street and Hyde Street, the San Francisco Fire Department announced Wednesday.

The street closure is in the Russian Hill neighborhood on the 1200 block of Union Street.

The fire, on the fourth floor of an apartment building, started at 8:41 a.m., fire officials said. Two rooms were damaged in the fire.

There were no reported injuries or displacements, fire officials stated.

The fire was contained at 9:04 a.m., but emergency vehicles are still working in the area. PG&E, the Department of Building Inspection and fire investigators are at the scene, according to the SFFD.
