The feline, known as KitKat, was known to lounge around a bodega in the Bay Area, according to a report by SFGate.
SAN FRANCISCO, CA — A Bay Area community is mourning the loss of a beloved bodega cat who was struck and killed by a self-driving car on Monday, according to a report by SFGate.
The owner of Randa's Market told SFGate that the cat appeared to have been struck and killed Monday morning by a Waymo driving down 16th Street in San Francisco's Mission District. A small vigil for KitKat has since been set up near the area, according to the report.
KitKat had become a fixture at Randa's Market six years ago and was featured in a separate SFGate article highlighting the city's favorite shop cats.
