📰 News we're reading

1. Suit Alleging Rape At Party By Diddy, Odell Beckham Jr., And Comedian Tossed By Judge (patch.com) — A San Francisco federal judge has dismissed a Bay Area woman’s 2024 lawsuit accusing Sean “Diddy” Combs, Odell Beckham Jr., and comedian Druski of raping her at a 2018 Orinda party, citing missed service and filing deadlines. The case was tossed without prejudice, meaning she could refile if she secures new legal representation and meets other requirements, while the judge declined to sanction Beckham, finding some factual basis for naming him.

2. USPS truck hits building in San Francisco's Sunset District (sfchronicle.com) — A U.S. Postal Service truck backed into a building on Noriega Street in San Francisco’s Sunset District Thursday afternoon, but no injuries were reported. Fire crews stabilized the damaged structure, inspectors cleared it, and the property—home to a jiu-jitsu gym next to Pho Recipe—was returned to the owner within about an hour.

3. San Francisco, CA Becomes First in the Nation to Offer Public Drop-Off Bins for Battery-Embedded Product Recycling (wasteadvantagemag.com) — San Francisco is launching first-in-the-nation public drop-off bins for lithium-ion batteries and battery-embedded devices, giving residents new, easier ways to recycle phones, laptops, and other gadgets. The city partnered with Redwood Materials to place automated collection bins at Cole Hardware, Sports Basement, and Embarcadero Center locations, expanding San Francisco’s long-standing push for safer, greener waste and battery disposal.

4. Women's volleyball professional team headed to San Francisco (ktvu.com) — San Francisco is getting a new professional women’s volleyball team, LOVB San Francisco, slated to start play in January 2027 and join the city’s growing roster of women’s pro sports. Backed by Olympian Kelsy Robinson Cook and local leaders, the team is still finalizing its home venue but promises a high-energy addition to the city’s sports scene.

5. Suspect Arrested In Theft Of Hank The Bulldog, But Pup Still Missing (patch.com) — A French bulldog named Hank was stolen on Castro Street in San Francisco last week, and while police have arrested a suspect, the dog is still missing. Investigators say evidence was found in the suspect’s car, and he’s now in San Francisco County Jail. Anyone who spots Hank or has tips is urged to contact SFPD.
