​Dog Killed, Multiple People Displaced In Apartment Complex Fire

All of the residents evacuated in time and crews rescued a dog, but despite their best efforts, the dog was pronounced dead at the scene.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Multiple people were displaced Sunday and one dog died after a fire broke out in an apartment complex in San Francisco, according to the Fire Department.

Firefighters arrived just before 12:30 p.m. in the 20 block of Crestline Avenue at Burnett Avenue and found a multi-story, multi-unit apartment complex which had some units below ground level.

According to the Fire Department, they began fighting the blaze at the lower levels of the building, where thick black smoke could be seen belching out of the ground floor.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Fire Department noted that many people were able to escape because they heard fire alarms and/or were notified via the CitizenAppSFO app.
