Frozen Eggs, Embryos Ruined At San Francisco Fertility Clinic
The incident reportedly affects hundreds of women hoping to have children.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- Hundreds of women reportedly loss their frozen eggs after a "nitrogen failure" at a San Francisco fertility clinic. The incident affected thousands of eggs and embryos, according to a Washington Post report.
The Washington Post said the incident happened on March 4 at Pacific Fertility Clinic, a facility that identifies itself as a "leader in the field of clinical infertility."
"Officials at Pacific Fertility said the latest problem was discovered by the clinic’s laboratory director, who noticed during a routine check that the level of liquid nitrogen in one of the clinic’s steel storage tanks had fallen too low," the Washington Post reported. "The clinic declined to say how many eggs and embryos had been affected but said the malfunctioning tank, storage tank No. 4, contained “several thousand” eggs and embryos."

Apparently this isn't unusual as a fertility center in Cleveland also experienced a similar incident, the Washington Post said.
