SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- A gas leak in San Francisco prompted evacuations on Monday. The gas leak was reported around 11:30 a.m. in the 900 block of Hayes Street, according to the San Francisco Police Department.

Officials with the police and fire departments were evacuating people in the area.

The public was asked to avoid the area as crews work to clear the scene.
