More 'Unsettled' Weather Ahead In The Bay Area: Forecast
The Bay Area got a taste of rain Wednesday, and forecasters see chances for more showers in the coming days. Here's what to know.
SAN FRANCISCO — Much of the Bay Area woke up to a little rain on Wednesday, and forecasters see an unsettled pattern continuing through the weekend. The National Weather Service expected Wednesday's rain totals would average about half an inch in the coastal ranges, with lower elevations seeing a quarter-inch or less through the evening.
While the most impactful upcoming rain looks to keep well north of the Bay Area, a few tendrils should drift southward enough to allow for a little moisture and bring fresh chances for showers from Friday through Sunday.
"The best moisture...will remain across far NorCal and the Pacific Northwest — however, we'll remain just close enough to occasionally be brushed with some light showers," NWS Bay Area forecasters said Wednesday. "Rain amounts don't appear overly impressive (generally 0.10" or less) although it's possible the Sonoma Coastal Ranges could receive up to 0.25" through early next week."

Breezy onshore winds could develop late Thursday, and updated forecasts show the best shot for rain returning to the Bay Area around Friday evening, with smaller chances lingering through Sunday afternoon.
Looking ahead to next week, the National Weather Service expects a gradual warming trend beginning Monday with mostly sunny skies returning to the region by Tuesday as afternoon highs gain a few degrees.
