Nation's Biggest Beer Company Shuttering Last NorCal Plant

This Bud Is Not For You, NorCal —​ Anheuser-Busch is closing its Fairfield Budweiser plant, the beer maker announced.

NORTHERN CALIFORNIA, CA — Anheuser-Busch, the nation's largest brewing company, will soon close its last plant in Northern California.

The Fairfield Budweiser plant will close in early 2026 after nearly 50 years, Anheuser-Busch told reporters.

The Fairfield plant is one of three nationwide to be closed or sold.

Anheuser-Busch will offer jobs to the 475 full-time employees affected by the closing and provide relocation stipends and new location skills training, according to the company. Workers who do not to accept the offer to transfer, will receive severance packages and other resources.

Fairfield, California and Merrimack, New Hampshire, will be shut down, while a Newark, New Jersey, facility will be sold to investors, the Goodman Group.

For the Fairfield workers, the closest plant will be in Los Angeles.

The move is part of a broader production shift, affecting Anheuser-Busch plants nationwide, the company said in a statement.

"We will be shifting production from these three facilities to our other U.S. facilities, and these changes will enable us to invest even more in our remaining operations and in our portfolio of growing, industry-leading brands."
