Child dies after being struck by car in SF's Hayes Valley (ktvu.com) — A young child died after being hit by a car Sunday morning at Hayes and Webster streets in San Francisco’s Hayes Valley, despite lifesaving efforts from police and paramedics. The driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating, while shaken neighbors describe long-standing safety worries on this busy corridor used daily by families and transit riders.
   

2. Man Convicted Of First-Degree Murder In 2023 San Francisco Encampment Stabbing (patch.com) — A man has been convicted of first-degree murder and attempted murder for a 2023 stabbing at a sidewalk encampment in San Francisco’s SoMa neighborhood near Washburn and Mission streets. Prosecutors say he attacked two acquaintances after an argument over drugs; he remains in custody with sentencing set for January 29, 2026.
   

3. ‘One Battle After Another' conquers Bay Area film critics awards (sfchronicle.com) — San Francisco film lovers just saw “One Battle After Another” dominate the San Francisco Bay Area Film Critics Circle awards, taking best film, director, adapted screenplay, supporting actor and editing. The group also honored “Sinners,” international and documentary standouts, and gave a special nod to “Twinless,” which closed last summer’s San Francisco International LGBTQ+ Film Festival, plus a local-impact award to publicist Karen Larsen.
   

4. Dozens Rally In SF Demanding Animal Rights Activist Zoe Rosenberg Be Released From Jail (patch.com) — Animal rights activists marched from Mission Dolores Park to San Francisco City Hall demanding the release of Zoe Rosenberg, jailed after a Petaluma poultry protest. Demonstrators, including at least one San Francisco resident, argue her sentence is excessive and are backing a pardon petition while highlighting concerns about her health in custody.
