Pedestrian Walking Dog Hit By Car

Both died, according to police.

SAN FRANCISCO — A pedestrian and a dog were killed after they were hit by a car Thursday afternoon in San Francisco's South of Market neighborhood, police said.

The collision was reported about 2 p.m. near Howard and Seventh streets, where officers found the pedestrian with life-threatening injuries.

Paramedics took the victim to a hospital, but they died despite lifesaving efforts of medical staff and first responders.

A dog was also found at the scene and declared deceased.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police. Impairment due to alcohol or drugs doesn't appear to be a factor in the collision, police said.
