Talented Star Student Creates Art For Nonprofit

SAN FRANCISCO, CA —

Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

How do you know the star local student?

Sissel is a youth volunteer with Muttville Senior Dog Rescue ♥

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?

Sissel started volunteering at age 11 along with her mom, Dahlia. They brought a hospice dog home to foster and fell in love, then adopted Figgy. Sissel drew a picture of Figgy sitting in a bowl and it was a hit, so she drew more Muttville dogs. People started asking Sissel to draw their own pets and she then created merchandise and donated the profits to Muttville. She's drawn over 120 portraits. Muttville asked Sissel to do illustrations for their dog rescue's online store dog rescue's online store and anything you see that isn't the Muttville logo comes from Sissel's creative mind and hand! Her art is all over the website and she illustrated a video, seen above. She's drew custom pet posters for Muttville donors and sponsors for a recent annual gala and to date has raised $14,000! Sissel is so talented and has a huge giving heart! Her works can be seen on her Instagram page and on Red Bubble.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?

Sissel is growing up with compassion, having given so much to our senior dog rescue; creating, adopting, fostering, donating, volunteering at the shelter. Sissel is an awesome young person who will grow up to be an amazing woman! We love her!
