Update: San Francisco Man Brutally Beaten Trying To Stop Thief At Store Dies From Injuries

SAN FRANCISCO — A San Francisco man who was badly beaten with a bat while trying to stop a person from taking items at the market where he works last week has died from his injuries, according to family.

Yowhannes Tewolde works at the Richmond Market in San Francisco's Richmond District. Police said officers responded to the 3900 block of Balboa Street last Thursday night to investigate a reported robbery and aggravated assault.
Meron Tewolde is his daughter. She said he was working when someone walked in and stole water. She said the person tried to steal beer too. That's when Yowhannes tried to stop the person.
