Woman Gives Birth In Bay Area Waymo
The company told news outlets that the car was immediately taken out of service afterward for cleaning.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — A pregnant woman on the way to a San Francisco hospital on Monday night gave birth in a Waymo.
The woman was on her way to the University of California, San Francisco Medical Center when the driverless car's rider support team detected "unusual activity," according to a Waymo spokesperson.
The rider support team contacted 911, but the robotaxi arrived at the hospital before emergency crews could respond, Jess Berthold, a UCSF spokesperson, said.

The car was taken out of service for cleaning after the incident, a Waymo spokesperson said, adding that this was not the first baby to be born in one of the company's robotaxis.
Although the robotaxi's popularity has grown, it's also been the subject of continued scrutiny across the Bay Area.
In September, a robotaxi made an illegal U-turn before a DUI checkpoint in San Bruno, prompting police to pull it over. Police weren't able to issue a ticket because technically nobody was in the driver's seat.
In October, the robotaxis sparked outrage after one struck and killed a beloved Bay Area bodega cat. San Francisco Supervisor Jackie Fielder called for new robotaxi rules following the cat's death.
One of the earliest regions to get driverless cars, Bay Area residents were also pioneers in using the driverless cars as a place to have sex.
