City of San Luis Obispo Announces A Fire Department Leadership Change (slochamber.org) — San Luis Obispo’s fire department is getting new leadership as Fire Chief Todd Tuggle resigns effective January 4, 2026, with longtime Paso Robles deputy chief Randall Harris stepping in as interim chief the next day. Tuggle, who launched the city’s first Mobile Crisis Unit and advanced planning for a future Fire Station 5, says he’s focused on a smooth transition to maintain service levels for residents.
   

2. SLO massage therapist arrested after ‘inappropriately' touching client, police say (sanluisobispo.com) — San Luis Obispo police arrested a local massage therapist after a client reported being touched inappropriately during a session at Powerhouse Chiropractic. Investigators say the conduct fell outside accepted massage standards and may have been sexual in nature, and they’re asking anyone with information or similar experiences to contact SLO police or Crime Stoppers.
   

3. Anti-ICE protestors create chaos at the SLO County Jail, video (calcoastnews.com) — An altercation between anti-ICE protesters and federal agents at the San Luis Obispo County Jail prompted deputies to return an inmate to custody and later release video of the confrontation. Sheriff’s officials say protesters interfered with lawful duties and warned that such behavior could lead to removal or arrest under state law. The incident highlights ongoing tensions around immigration enforcement in the county.
   

4. SLO County breweries collecting pajamas for local youth in need (ksby.com) — Families around San Luis Obispo can donate new pajamas through Sunday at The Hub and Central Coast Brewing, as part of a countywide “Pints for PJs” drive. Seven breweries from Paso Robles to Grover Beach are collecting infant-to-adult sizes, aiming to top last year’s 200-pair total and spread some extra warmth to local kids in need.
   

5. San Simeon trail to get a makeover with new boardwalk and other updates (ksby.com) — If you love walking the San Simeon trail at Hearst San Simeon State Park, expect closures and a fresh new look over the next few months. State Parks’ San Luis Obispo Coast District is rebuilding about half a mile of trail, adding 1,300 feet of ADA-compliant redwood boardwalk, smoothing paths, and upgrading benches and railings, with work expected to wrap up by April, weather permitting.
