Pedestrian killed in San Marcos crash ID'd as Encinitas man, 34 (thecoastnews.com) — A 34-year-old Encinitas man was struck and killed late Saturday night on West San Marcos Boulevard, and sheriff’s traffic investigators are asking San Marcos residents for any information. Deputies say the driver stayed at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of DUI, though impairment wasn’t deemed the crash’s cause. Loved ones remember the victim as a caring son and friend.
   

2. Labor Department fines California grower for violations – [your]NEWS (yournews.com) — A San Marcos-based grower has been ordered to repay $171,400 after federal investigators found farmworkers living in unsafe, substandard housing tied to its operations. Amid budget deficits and vacant jobs, the governing board named Instruction VP Tina Recalde interim superintendent/president while facing union no-confidence resolutions and criticism over recent diversity and land-acknowledgment rollbacks.

Leader Jones Issues Statement On Tijuana River Valley Sewage Crisis Agreement - (thevistapress.com) — San Marcos is among the communities represented by State Senator Brian Jones, who is applauding new U.S. EPA action on the long-running Tijuana River Valley sewage crisis. He calls the pollution a serious environmental and public health threat and says he’ll keep pushing, with federal and Mexican partners, for lasting fixes that protect families across his district.
