80-Year-Old Man Injured In Fairfax Blaze (Updated)

The man suffered burn injuries to his legs from a 1-acre Fairfax wildfire, Marin County Fire Battalion Chief Todd Overshiner said.

Updated at 11:49 a.m.: A request for aircraft in support of crews battling the Lake fire has been cancelled, the Marin County Sheriff's Office said. "The fire is mostly contained to a peninsula.," the agency said.

FAIRFAX, CA — An 80-year-old man was hospitalized Thursday morning from injuries he suffered in a Marin wildfire, authorities said.

The man suffered burn injuries to his legs from a 1-acre Fairfax wildfire, Marin County Fire Battalion Chief Todd Overshiner said.

His condition was not immediately known.

Firefighters from multiple agencies halted forward progress on the one-acre Fairfax blaze in the area of Sky Oaks Road near Bon Tempe Lake, Overshiner said.

No structures are threatened, and no evacuations warnings have been issued, and no main roads have been impacted by the blaze, Overshiner said.

The Ross Valley Fire Department, Cal Fire, Marin Water and Marin County Fire responded to the blaze.

The blaze was first reported at 9:35 a.m.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation, Overshiner said.
