Water district, healthcare board seats up for election in November

District I: covering Terra Linda, the northern part of Sleepy Hollow, Oak Manor, Marinda Oaks, and parts of San Anselmo

Peter Lacques -- Fairfax Planning Commissioner, environmental attorney

District III: covering Fairfax, San Anselmo, and the San Geronimo Valley

David Behar – incumbent from San Anselmo, Climate Change Director at San Francisco Public Utilities Commission

Frank Egger – former Fairfax Councilmember

In addition, there are two competing desalination measures on the ballot, one put forward by a group of residents opposed to the proposed desalination plant and one by the water district. The critics of the plant argue that voters should have a say. The district says the measure opponents have put on the November ballot would prohibit the district from even considering ways to address water needs without it going to the voters.

Marin Healthcare District: three out of five seats are up for re-election, which are not divided geographically. The healthcare district recently oversaw the transition of Marin General Hospital from Sutter to public control.
