Fairfax Readies To Welcome Top Administrator

FAIRFAX, CA — Fairfax’s top administrator will be among three new staffers who will be introduced at Wednesday’s Town Council Meeting.

Town Manager Heather Abrams was hired Dec. 15 as a permanent replacement for Garrett Toy, who stepped down over the summer to become Sonoma's city manager. Adam Politzer has served as Fairfax's interim town manager since Toy's departure.

Abrams will be among three new staffers introduced at Wednesday’s meeting.

Climate Action Coordinator Sean Youra and Administrative Analyst Lorena Barrera are the others.

"I'm excited and honored to be selected as the next Town Manager for Fairfax," Abrams said in a statement at the time of her hiring.

"The Town of Fairfax is such a wonderful special place, I cannot wait to get started. I have found the Town Council, staff, and residents to be thoughtful, hardworking, and forward thinking. As we tackle the challenges of the years ahead together, I look forward to engaging with everyone and becoming part of the Town fabric."

Abrams has for the past five years served as general manager for the Tamalpais Community Services District (near Mill Valley) and currently serves as president of the Marin Special Districts Association.

She previously served as the city of Menlo Park's sustainability manager an International City/County Management Association Award of Excellence recipient.

The UC Berkeley graduate earned her MBA from Cal State Monterey Bay. She also completed an executive certificate in public leadership from Harvard's Kennedy School.

Abrams will be paid an annual salary of $218,000 plus a monthly $400 auto allowance, the town said.
