Fatal Marin Shooting Victim ID’d

Police are asking for the public's help in the investigation of what they're calling a "senseless attack."

SAN RAFAEL, CA — A man fatally shot in San Rafael late Saturday night has been identified as Erick Boliver Mendez Vasquez, 33 of San Rafael, authorities said.

No arrests have yet been made in connection with the shooting near the intersection of Medway Road and Mill Street (near the 7-Eleven store), which was reported Saturday at around 10:35 p.m., the Marin County Sheriff’s Office said.

First responders provided aid at the scene and took Mendez Vasquez to a local hospital where he died from his injuries, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The release of Mendez Vasquez’s identity was delayed by pending confirmation of next of kin notification to family members located out of country, the Sheriff’s Office said.

"(San Rafael Police Department) Detectives are currently working on locating evidence, witnesses, and trying to understand a motive for this senseless attack," police said.
