Pile Burning Work Underway In Mt. Tam Watershed
Marin Water's latest effort to remove fire fuels got underway Wednesday and will continue if the weather cooperates.

FAIRFAX, CA — Fire prevention work kicked off Wednesday in the Mount Tamalpais Watershed as Marin Water began pile burning near the Sky Oaks Ranger Station.
"Pile burning is one of many methods, including mechanical removal, manual pulling, grazing and others, that contribute to Marin Water's proactive approach to fire fuel management and a more resilient, ecologically healthy watershed," the agency wrote Wednesday.
Officials said smoke could be visible in the area by Taylor Trail, and further burns could take place in the coming days if the weather cooperates. An incoming bout of active weather could put those plans on hold in the near term.
