Officers at around 10 p.m. Friday responded to a Tiburon police automated license plate reader alert for a vehicle sought in connection with a felony case for evading authorities, police said.

The driver of the wanted vehicle fled sped away “with wanton disregard to public safety” after an MVPD officer staged near the city limits attempted to stop the vehicle, police said.

The suspect entered southbound Highway 101, quickly exited the freeway onto the frontage road in Mill Valley and later collided with a guard rail underneath the freeway, police said.

The suspect initially tried to run away but was located in a residential area and subsequently arrested, police said.

“We would like to thank @tiburonpd @marinsheriff @sanrafaelpolice @chpgoldengate #sausalitopd #belvederepd and @usparkpolicepio for their assistance throughout this incident,” Mill Valley police said.
