Whyte's Booksmith Sold To New Owner
Whyte's Booksmith in downtown San Anselmo is under new ownership, as longtime owner Mike Whyte plans to retire.

SAN ANSELMO, CA—Whyte's Booksmith in downtown San Anselmo is under new ownership, as longtime owner Mike Whyte plans to retire.
According to a news release, Jessica Brennan is the new owner of the store. Whyte's Booksmith has been in the community for more than 40 years.
“I feel incredibly honored to be able to carry on the legacy of this bookstore," Brennan said in a news release from Berkshire Hathaway. "It has been a San Anselmo institution for more than 40 years and I am dedicated to have it continue to be an active part of the community for many more years to come. I’m excited to share my passion for books, learning and families with all of San Anselmo."

Whyte tried to sell the store in 2018, but hundreds of customers came in and asked him not to sell, according to the Pacific Sun. Whyte put it up for sale again in 2020, under the condition the new owner would operate as-is.
Rik Liddell of Berkshire Hathaway announced the sale last week.

“I am proud to have represented both the buyer and seller of this San
Anselmo institution and happy to see that it will remain an integral part of downtown San Anselmo," he said in the news release.
Whyte's Booksmith is located at 615 San Anselmo Avenue. It is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday-Thursday, and 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
